Description of Preschool Activities and Volunteer Opportunities
The following are descriptions of many of the PVO committees and events; however, there is always room for more. If you have thoughts on a program or event you would like to see at Christ Church please let us know so we can make it happen!
Book Fair/Grand Event/Family Night: In the Fall and Spring, we team up with Scholastic books and set up book “store” for parents and children to purchase books for personal use and for their classrooms. The book fair is paired up with our ‘Grand Event’ and “Family Night” to maximize exposure and sales. Also, students have a chance to show their parents their classrooms and proudly share their work with them.
Responsible to work with Scholastic Book Fair representative in prepping communication; flyers, letters and posters, book fair centrum decor and coordinate volunteers for set-up, organize sales coverage during peak sales time for week long book fair, and elements for Grand Event, and Family Night. Include Raffle to boost fundraising potential.
Volunteers needed during school hours to cover as well as during 1 evening event.
Local Coupon Book Fundraiser: In the beginning of the school year we start with a easy and viable fundraiser. We need someone to coordinate, package, distribute, collect, and maintain book/monies. Act as main contact to all teachers for any matters concerning this fundraiser.
Labels for Education: Create incentive challenges for the families to collect as many “labels for education” as they can to raise money for the school. Collects, counts, maintains paperwork and submits for the school.
Fall Festival: A carnival event on the grounds of the church to allow Christ Church families to get together and share the ‘changing of the seasons’ with pony rides, games and more. Help organize and coordinate teams of volunteers for our preschool Carnival. Set-up Craft project, Trail Mix donations, and cover stations during festival.
Thanks for Giving Luncheon: Coordinate Thanksgiving Meal for our hardworking and loving Teachers and Staff.
Christmas Pageant Reception: Set-up cookie station (donations from Christ Church families) and hot cocoa bar refreshments (PVO provided) for families to enjoy after the Christmas Pageant. Volunteers needed to prep hot cocoa and set-up cookies for both nights – preferably volunteer night your child does not have pageant. Fill in and clean up after reception.
Trike a Thon: In conjunction with Transportation Day (January): need co-chairs to create, flyers, posters & pledge packets and collection, organize volunteers to set-up, decorate, organize class schedule, trike labels and storage. Provide water stations and light snacks.
Easter Egg Hunt: Coordinate Preschool Pre-filled Egg donation by class, white bags for each child to decorate for school wide Easter egg hunt with Easter Bunny visit.
Teacher Appreciation Week: Help plan and organize a week of special events in classroom and coordinating volunteer donations for lunch/breakfast/treats for the teachers and staff during the week. Coordinate with local restaurant to reserve dinner for the teachers at end of week.
VPK Graduation/Reception: Graduation of the Pre-K/Four Year old class is held in the evening and a milestone event for families of those children. Volunteers needed to cut cake, distribute refreshments and clean up.
